Tinting

Tinting refers to the darkening or lightening of eyebrows and eyelashes by a licensed professional. Definition and color can be achieved by application of a dye formulated specifically for use around the eyes. Tinting is a quick and easy service that provides instant, semi-permanent results. A vegetable-based gel dye is applied to the hairs, as conventional hair dye contains chemicals too harsh to be used on brows and lashes. After 10 to 15 minutes, the dye is gently removed with water.

To tint the lashes, petroleum jelly is first applied to the area in order to prevent temporary staining. Then dye is carefully applied to the individual hairs. An eyelash tint is a suitable option for women who wish for dark, voluminous lashes at low maintenance. Rather than apply mascara multiple times a day and fight the risk of heavy, crusted product, you can opt for a monthly tint to retain the eyelashes’ natural consistency with lasting color. A tint gives the lower lashes a layer of definition that mascara fails to achieve without creating a mess of clumps. The dye will not run or smudge like mascara either, and it is much more sanitary.

To tint the eyebrows, a different dye is used which does not deposit color into the skin. This allows the dye to be applied generously all over the brow area for maximum coverage. Eyebrow tints produce optimal results in women with light or sparse eyebrow hairs. The process defines the appearance of the brows to create the effect of volume in those with light brown to blonde brows. For those with sparse hair, tinting is helpful to make penciling appear more subtle and natural. Lightening of dark brows is possible as well, as darkening black or dark brown eyebrows is not always recommended. All tinting services require a touch-up every four to six weeks.
